Hope you guys can help a brotha' out...

As most of you guys know from years past, I ride in a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis research and treatment every year. This will be my 5th year, and, as always, I ride for my sister-in-law and my cousin, both of whom have been struggling with MS for many, many years. Since most of you don't keep up with the latest MS news, you should know that there have been some really incredible treatments and new medications that have become available over the last few years, most of which came about because of donations to events like the one I participate in every year in Illinois. If you are able to help in absoluely ANY way with donations, please, please, please don't be shy about anything that you can give. I get donations every year anywhere from $5 to $250, and every $ is hugely appreciated. So... No pressure or anything, but, I think it's important to point out that research for Multiple Sclerosis is not only an excellent cause but an exceptionally productive one. Treatment for the disease has made unprecedented steps as of late, and it's almost entirely on the backs of funding from donation-taking organizations like the National MS Society. So while there are endless causes theoretically worth your contribution, you'd be hard-pressed to find one more pragmatic as far as the expected outcome of your dollar.

So help Jason.

Bryan is dead on... I'm hoping that he lets me use his words, word for word, when I make my Facebook status updates... He's absolutely as on as could be about the current state of MS research and fundraising. The breakthroughs in recent years are astounding, and, in case you haven't noticed, federal funding for research and development of treatments for diseases like MS is really negligible, and it's events like the MS Rides that contribute the bulk of the dollars that go toward the truly dramatic improvements in treatment that I've seen working first hand. The kind of difference that these treatments have made in the lives of my cousin and sister-in-law can't be described in words, and it's thrilling to see that a cure is potentially right around the corner.

The next polio? I sure as hell hope so.
