HobHearts: Heyward & Freese have their bags packed (2 replies)

A month into the season it's pretty clear that the HobHearts can pitch, but apparently they can't hit worth a damn. To remedy this, the team is now seeking impact bats by shopping its two most-eligible players: Jason Heyward and David Freese. Both are off to a good start in 2012 but neither fits prominently in the current season's lineup, so they're officially available. Ditto for all of my picks (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), so cook up your blockbuster offers and come on down.

Couple of caveats to avoid confusion:

- I'm not taking one-year wonders who are certain to be cut/unsigned at the conclusion of the season (at least, not as the core of an offer). If you're shopping a short-termer then I'm all ears, but not for these guys.

- I'm only looking to upgrade positions of weakness (C, 2B, LF, RF). If you have a 1B who has .020 better OPS vs RHP then HobHearts starter Ryan Howard, that's great, but it's not what I'm looking for.

- Any large contracts would require you to take back a one-year contract like Grady Sizemore (3.9) or Miguel Olivo (2.6), but nothing that stretches into 2013.

- I'm satisfied with my rotation and bullpen, so I'm not trading for pitching.

Thanks for looking, please email with any questions.

- Scott / HH

I was happy when he made the team, but what's he's done so far in April is pleasantly surprising. And since he's pitching today, this post will jinx him.

Pitcher of the Month: Jordan Zimmermann. 'Nuff said.

Hitting surprise: Where should I start? Ike Davis hitting .141? Cano with 3 RBIs?

Hitter of the month: Yadier Molina. Sad but true, the guy is raking.

FPBL:

Pitching surprise: Fernando Rodney. After picking him up and expecting to stash him on the bench, I realized he may actually be able to contribute some innings. Two weeks later he's thrown 9.2, giving up 5 hits without allowing a run.

Pitcher of the Month: Alex Cobb. 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings.

Hitting surprise: Ike Davis. Making both lists. 10 home runs in 72 ABs with 23 RBIs. He'll nose dive after his usage is up, but he's got a nice head start.

Hitter of the month: Adrian Beltre. 29 RBIs in 26 games.
Griffins In-Season Trade Block (no replies)

I thought the Griffins might have a chance this year if the sims were nice to me, but no such luck it seems. Therefore, it is time to open up the market. Here are some potential difference makers for contenders. - In all cases, looking for a pick or young corner infielder with upside.

David Robertson - one of the best relievers available. Makes 5.1, but is a lights-out reliever. He's just a novelty this team can't afford.

Ted Lilly - Has had a terrible start and I think my ballpark hates him - but is due for a correction. Makes 5.0

Ramon Hernandez - Too good to be a backup catcher for this team. Makes 3.7.

For teams building for next year, check out Jonathan Broxton - Makes 3.0 next year, but can be cut this year at no cost. Make an offer or keep him on your radar for later on.

I'll consider offers on everybody, but for guys like Avila, Hamilton, Romero, etc. I am unlikely to trade them.

Hit me up at bulldogsid@yahoo.com.
